It.‐born Alsatian soprano. Settled in Eng. Début London 1822. Successful career in opera (created Giulietta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Venice 1830), but chief claims to fame are as sop. soloist in first London perf. Beethoven's 9th Sym., 1825, and in f.p. of Mendelssohn's Elijah, Birmingham 1846. She was duettist with Malibran at Manchester Fest. 1836 when the latter collapsed, dying 9 days later.
