An unusually shaped galaxy in Caelum, which forms a group with the elliptical galaxy NGC 1595 and the peculiar galaxy NGC 1598. The Carafe seems to have been distorted by gravitational interaction with the nearby NGC 1595, and is classified as a Seyfert galaxy with a ring. It has no NGC number of its own.
