is remembered as the author of Chrononhotonthologos, as the inventor of the nick‐name ‘Namby‐Pamby’ for Ambrose Philips, and as the author of the words and music of ‘Sally in our Alley’. His burlesque opera The Dragon of Wantley was performed with much success in 1737.
