Ballet in two acts with choreography by Flemming Flindt, music by Peter Maxwell Davies, and designs by Jens-Jacob Worsaae. Premiered 14 Mar. 1991 by the Royal Danish Ballet at the Royal Theatre, Copenhagen, with Rose Gad in the title role. It tells the story of the disastrous marriage between the 15-year-old English princess Caroline Mathilde and the 17-year-old Danish king, the epileptic and insane Christian VII. It was performed by the Royal Danish Ballet at Covent Garden in 1995.
