US astronaut. He was commander of the third and final mission to Skylab and achieved a record duration time for crewed flights in space of 84 days, 1 hour, and 15 minutes, from 16 November 1973 to 8 February 1974. Carr was selected as an astronaut in 1966 and left NASA in 1977.
