Cartwheel Galaxy

A ring-shaped galaxy 500 million l.y. away in Sculptor, produced when a dwarf galaxy passed through a larger spiral galaxy. The Cartwheel's rim is 170 000 l.y. in diameter and is composed of gas and young stars. The central hub and faint radiating spokes are composed of old stars.
