A prolific maker of high‐standard maps, which rank in accuracy with those of the Ordnance Survey. His New and Correct English Atlas (1787), Cary's Travellers’ Companion (1790), Cary's New Itinerary (1798), and New British Atlas (1805) were constantly updated in later editions. He also published maps of foreign countries and the New Universal Atlas (1808).
