Quick Reference

(Skt.). ‘Performance tantra’, a term used for the second of the four late classificatory categories of tantra in Buddhism. This category comprises a very small number of texts, the most important of which is the Mahā-vairocana-abhisaṃbodhi Tantra. According to Buddhaguhya, who terms this category ubhaya (dual), such tantras share in equal measure the external ritual aspects of kriyā-tantra with the internal meditative practices of yoga-tantra.
