Members of the neurexin family of transmembrane adhesion/signalling proteins, that may have a role in the forming the functionally distinct domains critical for saltatory conduction in myelinated nerve fibres. Together with contactin are involved in axon–glia communication. CASPR1 (contactin-associated protein 1, neurexin 4, 1384 aa) is one of four known CASPRs.
