Cuban dancer, choreographer, and ballet director. He studied at the School of American Ballet in New York and went on to dance with many companies, including Petit, Joffrey, Grand Ballet du Marquis de Cuevas, Stuttgart Ballet, and New York City Ballet. He was director of the Geneva Ballet (1969–73), Frankfurt Ballet (1973–7), and the Baltimore Ballet (1980–1). In 1983 he became founding director of Ballet du Nord and continued to direct the company until his death in 1990.
