One of the major types of schizophrenia, the essential feature of which is pronounced psychomotor disturbance, manifested as physical immobility evidenced by catalepsy or cerea flexibilitas, stupor, excessive (apparently purposeless) motor activity or peculiarities of voluntary movement, negativism (1), mutism, and echolalia, or echopraxia.
