A gland located near the tail. In marine nematodes (Nematoda) it secretes through spinnerets a substance the nematode uses to attach itself to an object. In swordtail characin fish (Corynopoma riisei) the caudal gland secretes a courtship pheromone. In mammals its secretions serve for identification.
