Quick Reference

The product (E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase CBL, EC 6.3.2.-, 906 aa) of an oncogene (Casitas B-lineage lymphoma proto-oncogene), originally identified in a murine retrovirus that induces lymphomas and leukaemias, an adaptor protein that functions as a negative regulator of many signalling pathways. It is a RING-finger type E3 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme and binds to grb-2, Nck, crk, and p85 of PI-3-kinase. The transforming oncogene v-Cbl lacks the ubiquitin ligase domain. See CIN85.
