Quick Reference

A group of cell surface molecules of the immunoglobulin superfamily that associate with the T-cell receptor (TCR). The TCR/CD3 complex consists of either a TCR alpha/beta or TCR gamma/delta heterodimer coexpressed with the invariant CD3 gamma (CD3γ, 182 aa), delta (CD3δ, 171 aa), epsilon (CD3ε, 207 aa), zeta (CD247, 164 aa) and (in the mouse) eta (CD247, 206 aa) subunits. Defects in CD3delta cause severe combined immunodeficiency (autosomal recessive, T-cell-negative, B-cell-positive, NK-cell-positive type).
