Quick Reference

A family of proteins (CISD proteins) containing iron–sulphur (Fe–S) clusters and a unique 39-aa CDGSH domain. CDGSH1 (MitoNEET, 105 aa) is located in the outer mitochondrial membrane and may be involved in the transport of iron into the mitochondrion. CDGSH2 (MitoNEET-related 1, miner1, 135 aa) is involved in calcium homeostasis in the endoplasmic reticulum and is mutated in one form of Wolfram's syndrome. CDGSH3 (mitoneet-related 2, miner2, 127 aa) is mitochondrial.
