Quick Reference

Great trees which grew in Lebanon and were used for the construction of palaces and temples; they were long‐lasting and had an attractive fragrance. David and Solomon bought them from Tyre (2 Sam. 5: 11; 1 Kgs. 5: 8), whence they were floated on the sea to Joppa and then hauled up to Jerusalem. The splendour of cedars (Ps. 92: 12) was proverbial; their height was between 80 and 100 feet (up to 30 m.).
