Quick Reference

The working name of the Central Police Training and Development Authority. A non‐departmental public authority set up by the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001 to provide police training and to facilitate the provision of police training by other bodies. The stated aim is to develop policing by identifying good practice and sharing this knowledge nationally and internationally. This is achieved through the development and delivery of training and the provision of expert advice from written guidelines to analytical and operational support in the field.
