(b Martorell, nr Barcelona, 9 Sept. 1618; d Montserrat, 28 Aug. 1676). Spanish singer, instrumentalist, and composer. He was educated in the school at Montserrat, and became a monk there after 1636. For 30 years he was a celebrated teacher at the monastery, as well as being a fine violinist and organist. He composed much sacred music including a ‘battle’ mass and some interesting villancicos.
