(CPI)

An index to measure the accumulation of plaque at the cervical margins of tooth surfaces. The build-up of plaque is recorded at six cervical sites on each tooth i.e. mesio-buccal, buccal, disto-buccal, disto-lingual, distal, and mesio-lingual on a scale of 0 to 4 (0 = no plaque, 1 = up to 1mm thin plaque, 2 = more than 1mm thin plaque, 3 = up to 1mm thick plaque, 4 = more than 1mm thick plaque).
