Equivalents are rough music (Eng.); chiasso (It.). uproar; or scampanata (It.). bell ringing; Katzenmusik (Ger.). cat music; shivaree, calthumpian concert (Amer). In USA also means ‘musical’ teasing of newly‐weds.
