Quick Reference

A group representing the most typical culture of a host community. The charter group creates a system that segregates it from other ‘ethno-groups’, who may be gradually assimilated, but in such a way that the charter group maintains its dominance. See O. Yiftachel (1999) and Johnston et al. (2007) AAAG97, 4.
