Quick Reference

A weight-training technique that enables a trainee to lift a load he or she could not otherwise lift. The ability to lift a weight at constant speed is limited by the strength of the muscle at its weakest point, commonly called the sticking point. Cheating is a slight assistance movement, such as bouncing the barbell and raising the hips during a bench press, that accelerates the bar beyond the sticking point.
