checkerboard assay

Quick Reference

An improved methodology for investigating the potential chemotactic or chemokinetic properties of substances using a Boyden chamber assay but with positive, negative, and zero-gradient conditions. In nongradient conditions a chemokinetic effect will enhance leucocyte penetration into filters; only if the movement in gradient conditions is greater is there evidence for gradient perception and directed movement (chemotaxis).
