(1869–1924), Ohio-born journalist and popular author, best known for Get-Rich-Quick Wallingford (1908), stories about a likable and ingenious rascal of high finance who, with his partner “Blackie” Daw, makes a fortune and just manages to stay on the right side of the law. Chester wrote many sequels, and George M. Cohan successfully dramatized the character and some of the incidents in 1910.
