chick heart fibroblasts

Quick Reference

The cells that emigrate from an explant of embryonic chick heart maintained in culture. Because of the relative ease of obtaining them and the fact that they have probably not divided in culture they have been considered as archetypal normal cells and were used as the ‘normal’ reference cells by Michael Abercrombie (1912–79) in his studies of contact inhibition.
