A community‐based service for young people who have mental health difficulties. CAMHS often supports young people together with other members of their families. It is a multi‐professional service which includes psychiatrists and psychologists, social workers, and nurses. CAMHS work is linked closely with schools, particularly through educational psychologists and educational welfare staff. It offers support and guidance to young people involved in substance misuse including drugs and alcohol as well as mental health problems. Children between the ages of 0 and 14 are supported by child mental health teams.
