Quick Reference

The proportion of liveborn infants who survive through the middle years of childhood, a potentially useful indicator of population health level. It is variously defined as survival past the age of 5 years and survival past the age of 10 years, and because of the uncertainty about definition of the duration of survival, the term is preferably avoided.

Subjects: Public Health and Epidemiology.
