King Rama V of Siam (Thailand) (1868–1910). Only 15 when his father Rama IV (Mongkut) died, Chulalongkorn was represented by a regent until he reached his majority in 1873 and used the intervening years to travel and study administrative practices abroad. He then continued his father's reformist policies, undertaking a massive modernization of his country.
