A cyclic undecapeptide isolated from the fungus Tolypocladium inflatum (formerly Beauveria nivea), that is used as an immunosuppressive drug to prevent transplant rejection and to treat some autoimmune diseases. It binds to cyclophilin in T cells and the complex inhibits calcineurin and blocks the production of various cytokines, particularly IL-2, thus inhibiting cell-mediated immune responses.
