(1937)

This important Modernist publication was edited by J. L. Martin, Ben Nicolson, and Naum Gabo and published by Faber, publishers of other important texts (such as Herbert Read's Art & Industry of 1934) that sought to promote an awareness in Britain of avant‐garde tendencies in design, the fine arts, and architecture in Germany, France, and other European countries. Circle sought to promote the belief that there were all kinds of interconnections between many fields exploring new ideas, including seemingly diverse disciplines such as the fine arts, engineering, architecture, typography, and biotechnics. A survey of international Constructivist art, its contributors included Walter Gropius, Marcel Breuer, Le Corbusier, Siegfried Giedion, and Herbert Read.
