Fr. composer and scholar. Was hpd. teacher in Paris and was jilted by one of his pupils in favour of Casanova, 1757. Arr. mus. at Comédie‐Italienne 1755–6. In 1758 and 1762 pubd. two treatises on comp., the first on hpd. accompaniment and the second on figured bass. In 1762 began monthly pubn. of his Journal de clavecin, first of its kind. Wrote 4 stage works, some choral pieces, and many hpd. pieces, some of which are lost.
