click fraud

Quick Reference

Click fraud is where some automated system is used to simulate a number of mouse clicks against an online advert in order to generate a charge per click. For example an advert may be placed on a e*Web site that reviews books and advertises book sellers and the site charges the sellers on a per-click basis. If the site automatically generated clicks using a tool the site would be able to charge the sellers the amount due for the adverts.
