cloud seeding

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

Any technique of inducing rain from a cloud, usually by dropping on it crystals of dry ice (frozen CO2), or silver nitrate, as condensation nuclei. Ćurić et al. (2007) Met. & Atmos. Phys. 95, 3–4 find that accumulated hail and rain precipitation at the surface are significantly reduced if seeding is at an early stage of cloud development.
