A hill (949 feet) of volcanic origin in Co. Limerick, 2 miles E of Ballingarry, known in English as Knockfeerina, Knockfierna, etc. The hill is one of the most celebrated otherworldly sites in Munster, and formerly had an annual Lughnasa assembly. It was once thought to be the seat of a god named Donn Fírinne. Widely known in oral tradition, the hill is the scene of many episodes in Fenian narrative.
