Romanian dancer. She studied at the Kiev Ballet School and briefly at the Royal Ballet School (1998), before joining the Kiev Ballet as principal (1998). The following year she joined the Royal Ballet where she was promoted to soloist in 2000 and principal in 2001. A dancer of exceptional lightness, musicality and classical style she excels in roles like Giselle and Aurora, but she also possesses a wide stylistic and expressive range. In MacMillan works such as Manon, Mayerling, and Romeo and Juliet, she has revealed a powerful dramatic intelligence while in the modern repertory she has created roles in many works including Page's This House Will Burn (2001), Bintley's Les Saisons (2003), and McGregor's Chroma (2006). She has guested with the Kirov, American Ballet Theatre, Royal Danish Ballet, and others, most frequently partnered by Johan Kobborg.
