(1719–77). Librettist from Livorno who became court poet at St Petersburg. He achieved his best results in Almeria, Antigone, and Amore e Psiche. In the 1760s he owned Livorno's foremost printing press, which published the first edition of Beccaria's Dei delitti e delle pene in 1764.
