French historian. Born in Flanders, the son of a noble Burgundian commander, he was raised at the Burgundian court, joined Louis XI of France in 1472, and was later disgraced for plotting against Charles VIII in 1486. Restored to favour, he joined Charles's invasion of Italy in 1494. He wrote his Memoires, six books on Louis and two on Charles during 1489–98.
