Quick Reference

A method of disposing of garbage and industrial waste that involves compression of the waste matter into as small a volume as possible, using a compactor, a device that applies pressure to loosely stacked or packed material to force it into a smaller volume. Often this involves extrusion of liquid content, which can include a source of infection or toxic effluent that endangers health if it enters aquifers or is widely dispersed in the environment.
