Quick Reference

Software developed principally for use in architecture and engineering that allows the three‐dimensional modelling of shapes and forms, rendering with selected surface treatments, simulation of lighting patterns (natural and artificial), measurement and spatial analysis of forms and space, and the creation of virtual walks or flights through a structure. In archaeology, CAD has found many useful applications in the reconstruction of buildings and structures from excavated floor plans and architectural fragments.
