Quick Reference

The joint celebration of the Eucharist by a number of priests. The practice was probably common in the early Church. In the RC Church it was restored in 1963; here it is required that all concelebrating priests recite the central part of the Canon together. In the E. Church concelebration survived, though in modern times the Canon is usually said by the celebrant alone.
