connectionless protocol

Quick Reference

A protocol which governs the sending of packets of messages into a network which are not sent via a connection, but transmitted into the network with their destination address. This is an efficient way of sending data; however, it is not reliable since if a packet is lost there is no way for the sender to determine this and resend the packet. The best-known connectionless protocol is the Unreliable Datagram Protocol.
