(1800–1869), Irish scribe and translator; born in Sligo, he transcribed the Book of Lecan and the Book of Ballymote during his twenty years of employment at the RIA. He was appointed to the chair of Irish at Queen's College, Cork [see universities in Ireland]. His edition and translation of Imtheacht na Tromdháimhe. [see Dallán Forgaill] appeared as The Proceedings of the Great Bardic Institution (1860).
