Quick Reference

A proposed NASA X-ray astronomy mission that will consist of four X-ray satellites in formation, each containing a 1.6-m diameter telescope for measuring the spectra of cosmic X-ray sources. The four satellites would work together to produce the observing power of one giant telescope, in similar fashion to optical telescopes such as the Very Large Telescope. One particular target of interest will be the super-massive black holes at the centres of active galaxies. Constellation-X could be launched in 2011.
