Information about employee performance that is gathered by managers from consumers and used to discipline, reward, or identify training and development needs amongst employees. Consumer reports can be obtained in a number of ways, though the most common are surveys of consumers (customer service questionnaires), customer complaints, and the employment of ‘mystery’ or ‘bogus’ shoppers to report directly on employee behaviour (see mystery shopper).
