A loss or change of sensory or voluntary motor functioning, such as blindness, deafness, numbness, or paralysis, not fully explained by any neurological or general medical condition or drug, and not intentionally produced, but judged to be of psychological origin. Also called a conversion reaction. See also conversion, conversion disorder, conversion hysteria, glove anaesthesia.
