A slope, or slope element, that gets progressively steeper downhill. It may be determined by structure (exfoliation domes), by lithology (Allison and Higgitt (1998) Catena 33, 1), or by landslides (Di Luzio et al. (2004) Geomorph. 60, 3). Convex slopes may result from weathering and debris transport—see J. Wilson and J. Gallant (2000). See Lin and Oguchi (2004) Geomorph. 63, 3 on drainage density and convex slopes.
