A dark, elongated albedo feature on Mars, visible in Earth-based telescopes, centred at −15° lat., 65° W long. It corresponds to the Valles Marineris canyon system, the eastern main valley of which is named Coprates Chasma. The feature was previously known as Agathodaemon.
