Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A programme of study undertaken through written correspondence, where the learner and tutor communicate solely through means of the postal service. This type of distance learning, typified by the early days of the National Extension College, has been largely overtaken by technology and e‐learning, although Open University programmes and others still retain some features of this type of provision. Correspondence courses are still to be seen advertised commercially by private individuals or companies offering specialized skills, such as writing for children or memory enhancement.

Subjects: Education.
