Quick Reference

(fl. 1512–44), Flemish painter, probably a native of Bruges. He worked in England for most of the 1520s, and subsequently in France; he may have returned to England on leaving France, but there is no firm evidence. His best-known work is a portrait of Bishop John Foxe (not the martyrologist) in Corpus Christi College, Oxford.
