A small family of oceanic fish which have a high forehead (almost vertical in males) and a strongly tapering body ending in a forked tail fin. They are very fast swimmers, capable of reaching speeds of more than 60 km/h. Feeding mainly on flying fish and squid, the larger male dolphinfish can grow to more than 1.5 m in length. There are two species, with a world-wide distribution.
